“All relationship is a mirror in which the mind can discover its own operations. Relationship is between oneself and other human beings, between oneself and things or property, between oneself and ideas, and between oneself and nature; and in that mirror of relationship one can see oneself as one actually is - but only if one is capable of looking without judging, without evaluating, condemning, justifying. When one has a fixed point from which one observes, there is no understanding in one's observation.”

“The words which the speaker are using are a mirror in which you are looking at yourself. Now whether those hurts can be freed completely, wiped out completely so that there is not a single mark of hurt left. And a mind which has been hurt and has understood, can never be hurt again. You understand the question? Because, after all innocence is a state of mind in which there is no hurt. The word, the meaning of that word 'innocent' means not to be hurt, not to hurt, not to be hurt. Not the Christian meaning, the lamb and all that stuff. A mind that is not capable of being hurt and therefore doesn't hurt.”

Speaking on the Religious Centre, J. Krishnamurti said:

“It must last a thousand years, unpolluted, like a river that has the capacity to cleanse itself, which means no authority whatsoever for the inhabitants. And the teachings in themselves have the authority of the Truth.”

Time: 9:30 AM

Open to friends of The Study Centre and individuals who are willing to explore their own lives. These meetings also enable new comers to become familiar with the teachings and to what The Study Centre has to offer. Feel free to bring your friends and family members who have the capacity to listen and learn.

The Study Centre is a religious place that is set in wilderness. Here one is not coerced to bow down to a guru or sing praise of a guru. There is no mass following and there is no pressure to imitate others. One can come to this place and be “As One Is” and make one’s own discovery of oneself. When one comes to The Study one is not told what to think or what goals to have in one’s life. Here one can explore the issues of daily living in the spirit if inquiry. Here no practices or methods are given to distract one from learning about oneself. One can come to The Study as a day visitor or take a retreat in wilderness and discover a different way of living.

Study Retreat: July 12-15, 2012: “Understanding oneself” in the mirror of relationship

Life is relationship. There is no possibility of living in isolation. What is the quality of one’s relationship with nature, things, and human beings? Rather, one should ask what is the quality of the mind that is in relationship. The quality of one’s mind and the quality of relationship are inseparable. The relationship is the mirror in which one can look “as one is.” This is possible when one is acutely aware of the tendency of the mind to drift towards comparison, condemnation, judgment, and so on. We will together explore the various impediments in looking at oneself.

Harmony in relationship is possible when one does not take one’s relationship for granted. Relationship reveals a great deal about oneself. Relationship shows us one’s expectations, possessiveness, jealousies, and so on. Is there a relationship that is not bound by duties. What is the responsibility in relationship?

You are invited to come for a three day retreat to explore relationship afresh in company with others who are equally interested. The exploration in retreat may bring a new perspective to our relationship and may bring a living in simplicity and harmony.

Study Retreats 2012 – 2013 Calendar
The Study Retreats 2012-2013

The Study Centre, Valley School, Bangalore will be offering residential retreats every month. The purpose of such retreats is to take a step back from ones active daily life of making a living, having a family, and all the other activities that one is engaged in. During the retreat one can be alone and also in company of other serious minded individuals who have deeper questions of life and are willing to delve into the nature of human consciousness without any preconditions or with the aim of reaching any specific goal. Taking a journey within oneself brings about a certain release from the various conclusions, ideas, and tensions that one often accumulates in daily life. After the retreat one returns to daily living with an alert mind that is able to meet afresh the challenges of life.

Attending the retreat allows a teacher or parent to learn the intention of the school. The educational philosophy of the school helps in bringing about various policies and curriculum design in the school.
